Hearts working to persuade Wolfsburg to part with Herrmann

Hearts have made moves to sign German youth international Charles-Jedeja Herrmann but are still working to persuade Wolfsburg to allow the player to move to Tynecastle.

Daniel Stendel has identified Herrmann as the player who can help his struggling side score the goals they need to climb the table and the club have been working to land the forward.

Hearts have met Wolfsburg’s asking price for the 19-year-old but the German club now want Hermann to stay and help their second string gain promotion from the German fourth tier.

However, Herrmann is keen to move to Hearts in order to progress his career and get back to earning Germany youth caps, and hopes to push for a move to the capital.

The player has worked under Stendel at Hanover and the manager also tried to sign him during his time at Barnsley.

Stendel is looking to strengthen his squad for the challenge of avoiding relegation with Hearts sitting at the foot of the Premiership table.

Glenn Whelan has already left the club while Christophe Berra has been told that he can leave. Craig Wighton and Jake Mulraney are also available for transfer.
