Security has been heightened in Lille ahead of Scotland’s game against France on Tuesday following a shooting in Brussels that left two Sweden fans dead.
The suspected terror attack took place before Belgium’s Euro 2024 qualifier against Sweden on Monday night and led to the game being called off.
A third fan was left badly injured in the incident that took place three miles from the King Baudouin Stadium.
The gunman, reported to be a 45-year-old Tunisian national, was shot dead by police in a Brussels suburb on Tuesday morning.
Steve Clarke’s side are taking on the World Cup finalists at the Stade Pierre-Mauroy around 70 miles from where the shootings took place.
The French interior minister has announced that the number of police at the game will be doubled and there will be a military presence at the nearby border with Belgium as they look to avoid any potential for a similar incident.
Gerald Darminnan said: “Following the attack in Brussels, I immediately requested a reinforcement of troops at the border. Furthermore, we will double the number of police and gendarmerie mobilised for the match this evening in Lille.”
Scotland are playing in their first game since securing qualification for Euro 2024 when Spain beat Norway in Oslo on Sunday.
