Hibernian head coach David Gray praised Kieron Bowie’s mental strength after the forward netted his first goal since his comeback from injury.

Bowie came off the bench to cap off Hibs’ 3-1 win over Dundee United at Tannadice.

It was the 22-year-old former Fulham player’s second goal for Hibs having missed more than four months of action with a hamstring injury which curtailed the start of his career in Edinburgh.

Gray told Hibs TV: “I’m delighted for him. It’s part of the journey he has been on, the frustration he has had in his Hibs career so far.

“I was nursing him along at the start long-term injury when he joined us and then he had the setback.

“And then all the hard work to get back on the pitch is difficult mentally to keep going through that, especially when you have just joined a club and you want to come and impact it in a real positive way. He is certainly doing that now.

“I have had to manage his minutes on the back of a really good performance against Celtic but he has benefited from that and he is moving in the right direction.”
