Hibs boss David Gray named as Premiership manager of the month

Third-placed Hibernian were unbeaten in March.

David Gray has been named as the Premiership manager of the month as Hibernian’s resurgence has continued.

It’s the second month running that Gray has lifted the award and the third occasion this season he has won the prize.

Gray has guided Hibs to third in the table as the split approaches and after a difficult start to the campaign, they are now in prime position to claim that coveted European spot.

March began with a thrilling 2-1 derby win over rivals Hearts at home, and a Martin Boyle goal then earned the team a vital point in a 1-1 draw at Kilmarnock.

Hibs then saw off improving St Johnstone in a comfortable 3-0 win at Easter Road to finish their league business for the month.

Gray said: “I’m delighted, to be honest; this award is a reflection on the run we’ve been on and all the effort that has gone into that. The players deserve all the credit for this and then all the staff for their collective effort and hard work that has got us to where we are now. I am very grateful for all their support.

“We’ve been through difficult times at the start of the season, but the staff, the players and everyone at the football club has gone through real adversity and stuck together through that. We’ve come out the other side of that, we are in a real good place now, but we need to keep moving forward.

“When you think back to the start of December when we were bottom of the league so to get to where we are now is a fantastic achievement and we need to keep pushing forward.”
