Hibernian have added full back Marijan Cabraja and teenage attacker Reuben McAllister after agreeing Josh Doig’s departure to Hellas Verona.
Croatian under-21 cap Cabraja joins from Dinamo Zagreb in his homeland on a free transfer – 18 months after the club paid a seven-figure fee for his services.
The 25-year-old has also spent time on loan with Hungarian side Ferencvaros and Olimpija Ljubljana of Slovenia.
The left-sided defender will replace Doig after the 20-year-old swapped Easter Road for Serie A on Wednesday in a deal rumoured to be worth £3m.
Cabraja described the move as a “once-in-a-lifetime opportunity,” adding: “I looked into the history of the club and I am really excited to be here. The league is really dynamic, so it should be a lot of fun.
“To be honest, when I heard what the Manager’s plans were and when he told me his idea of football, I was really excited.
“The conversation with Lee helped me a lot, nobody can guarantee that you will play every game if you train badly, but it helped me because I quickly realised that his idea of football is similar to mine.”
Meanwhile McAllister, son of Hibs assistant Jamie, arrives from Bristol City on a three-year contract.
The 16-year-old will join up with the club’s development squad having attracted interest from a number of Premier League clubs.
Academy boss Steve Kean said: “He’s a left-footed creative midfielder who has a real ability on the ball; he can see a pass and loves opening up defences. Alongside that, he’s not afraid to put his foot in and to win the ball back.
“He is a real talent and someone we’re really excited to work with and welcome to the club.”
The Easter Road side face Bonnyrigg Rose in the Premier Sports Cup on Sunday after defeat to League One side Falkirk on Tuesday evening.
