Hibernian are in talks with Italian side Udinese over the potential transfer of Ryan Porteous.
The Serie A club want to sign the defender this month but STV Sport understands they are some way apart from Hibs’ asking price as things stand.
The Easter Road club revealed late last year that talks with the Scotland international had broken down and he was set to leave.
His current deal expires in the summer meaning he is able to negotiate a pre-contract agreement with any potential suitors.
However Hibs will be looking for a significant fee if they are to part of the 23-year-old, who made his Scotland debut in the Nations League game against Ukraine, in January.
Fellow Scots Lewis Ferguson, Jack Hendry and Liam Henderson currently play in the Italian top-flight.
Lee Johnson’s side are eighth in the league following a poor run of results including four defeats from their last five league games.
