Hibernian have made a move to sign Morgan Rogers from English Premier League giants Manchester City.
Rogers has been at Bournemouth on loan from City but has had almost no game time and the club now want to sell him before the transfer deadline.
Hibs want the England Under-20 international to make Easter Road his destination and are hopeful a deal can be struck for a permanent move.
Rogers, who came through the ranks at West Bromwich Albion, has also been linked with Blackpool and Rotherham.
The success of the move could have implications for Hibs attacker Jamie Murphy, who is a target for Mansfield Town. If Rogers completes a move to Edinburgh then Murphy’s departure would be sanctioned by the Easter Road hierarchy.
Hibs head coach Shaun Maloney spoke to the media earlier on Monday and dismissed any possibility of Brandon Barker joining from Rangers but said that a wide attacker to replace Martin Boyle was on the cards.
“We’re busy working to see if we can get one in,” he said.
Maloney did speak about possible departures.
“Scott Allan could possibly leave,” He said: “I’ve been really clear with Scott. At the moment it’s a ‘no’.
“I see him with us tomorrow but if that changes and it’s something Scott really wants, I will support him in getting something that suits him.
“Alex Gogic really wants to play more minutes and if he finds a solution I’ll be happy to help him with that.”
