Hibernian right-back Chris Cadden believes “there’s a realistic chance of winning trophies” ahead of their Scottish Cup match against Ayr United on Friday night.
The Edinburgh outfit will travel to Somerset Park to face the Championship leaders in the fifth round of the competition after surpassing Clydebank in the previous tie.
David Gray’s side are unbeaten in ten and will have their sights set on emulating the success the club had in 2016, when they last lifted the Scottish Cup.
However, they face Scott Brown’s men who are leading the race for promotion to the top-flight. The Honest Men thrashed Lowland League side Broxburn Athletic 8-0 in the fourth round of the competition.
Hibs right-back Chris Cadden believes the team could lift silverware at Hampden, however, he is not underestimating the quality Ayr United possess.
He said: “There’s a chance to win a trophy. The reason the cameras are there is probably cause they want to see an upset but we’ve got to keep our composure make sure we take the game to them and be our best.
“We know we’ll need to be our best to beat them. But as you walk through the team, which we did this morning there’s a lot of Premiership players there so imagine the quality will be pretty similar.
“I mean, Mikey Devlin for me is a Premiership player. You’ve got Scott McMann, Jamie Murphy who I’ve played with, so aye there’s a lot of good players there, so we know that.
“So we’re under no illusion of how hard it’s going to be and aye we just need be our best.”
