Hibs should follow Motherwell blueprint to appoint new boss - Scott Allan

Scott Allan believes Hibs should follow the Jens Berthel Askou blueprint when appointing a new manager.

David Gray’s 12-year association with the Edinburgh club ended just six games into the Scottish Premiership campaign, with the Easter Road club lingering in tenth spot.

Current Toulouse manager Askou impressed during his sole season as Fir Park boss, leading the Steelmen to fourth place in the table.

The Dane left the club in the summer to join the French side, and former Hibs midfielder Scott Allan believes the club should target the same style of manager to fill the vacant role.

“Jens [Berthel Askou] certainly changed it in this country,” the former Hibs midfielder said. “We saw it with players who we hadn’t seen play that way under different managers previously.

“That looks to be the route clubs are looking to go down. What it is doing is getting fans into the stadium, first and foremost, so it benefits in all different ways.

“I think it’s maybe Hibs’ time to look for that sort of appointment, but at the same time, you have to be careful what you wish for. It’s a really important decision for Hibs, making sure they get the right appointment.”

Allan will lead a team of nine Hibs legends at the SPFL Tennent’s Sixes, which takes place at the Braehead Arena on Saturday, October 3 and Sunday, October 4.
