Hibernian have completed the signing of defender Riley Harbottle on a permanent deal from Nottingham Forest.

The 22-year-old defender spent last season on loan at League Two Mansfield Town and has signed a three-year deal at the Easter Road side for an undisclosed fee.

Harbottle made two appearances for Forest’s senior side in League Cup matches between loans to non-league Wealdstone and Mansfield – where he scored six times in 37 appearances under Nigel Clough.

Manager Lee Johnson praised his “pedigree,” adding the Edinburgh outfit had signed a player “with a lot of potential”.

“He’s a talented young player that we believe we can develop and he adds strength in depth for us at centre-back.

“Everyone is looking forward to working with him.”

The club remain hopeful of re-signing Will Fish on loan from Manchester United, but may have to wait until after the English Premiership side’s tour of the United States is over to secure the deal.

Fish is expected to play in the capital on Wednesday when United take on Olympique Lyonnais in a friendly at Murrayfield.
