Hamilton full-back Lee Hodson has been forced to self-isolate after being in contact with the St Mirren player who has coronavirus.
The Paisley side confirmed on Thursday morning one of their players, now identified by the club as goalkeeper Jak Alnwick, had tested positive, with Accies announcing later that Hodson would have to isolate for 14 days.
Hamilton boss Brian Rice said everyone in his squad, including Hodson, had been tested since and there were not positive results, and said that the issue was just an unfortunate part of life following the pandemic.
“It’s very frustrating and difficult to deal with,” he said. “You pick your team, you’re working on a couple of things and all of a sudden something outwith the football changes the circumstances.”
“It’s well documented now that a player at St Mirren has tested positive.
“Lee actually lodges with the St Mirren player.”
Rice also said it was a “massive blow” to hear that the phased return of supporters to stadiums has been put back for at least three weeks. He said that he found some of the restrictions hard to understand but welcomed the fact that test events are still going ahead.
“We all want the fans in,” he added. “If it’s in small numbers to start with we build from there.
“But the key thing is that it’s got to be safe.”
