Jack Ross vows to keep pushing Hibs players to improve

Hibs head coach Jack Ross says he’ll keep pushing his players to be the best they can be, and believes the reaction to the weekend’s draw against Dundee United shows the standards they have set.

Luke Bolton’s late goal cancelled out Kyle Magennis’ opener in the 1-1 draw, though Hibs had the vast majority of the chances to score more.

That prompted an angry response from Ross but he says that was because the team didn’t get what he felt they deserved.

“I think the players understood in the aftermath that it wasn’t the performance or any aspects of the performance, it was more that they didn’t get the rewards,”

“My job is to serve them and make sure they get the best out of their abilities all the time. So it was immensely frustrating because we played really, really well.”

Ross believes that reaction shows the standards that have been set on the park and he says he won’t change in his drive to make sure the players achieve everything they can.

“I think it’s an indication of how we’re continually trying to push the players and I’m conscious of that,” he said.

“I’m quite demanding of them and we want to be the best we can be constantly.

“You have to have that. You have to have those demands on each other and yourself.”

And the head coach is confident that a repeat of the same quality and effort will see his side deliver over a busy festive period.

He added. “I feel like we’re making good progress in terms of the group and mentality in that way.

“So it was more frustration because the performance level was excellent and if they can replicate that in these Christmas and New Year games then they’ll collect a lot of points.”
