Jake Hastie has ended his time at Rangers and signed for English League Two side Hartlepool United.

The 23-year-old ends a three-year spell at Ibrox and will now look to play regular first team football with Paul Hartley’s side next season.

Hastie had moved to Rangers after bursting on to the scene at Motherwell, where he scored six goals in 19 games, catching the eye and being nominated for Young Player of the Year.

The attacker didn’t make a breakthrough at Ibrox and had loan spells at Rotherham United, back at Motherwell, at Partick Thistle and with Linfield.

Hartlepool boss Hartley believes that he can get the best from a player who needs to settle and play regularly.

“I’m delighted to get Jake in,” the manager told Hartlepool’s website. “He’s someone I’ve seen a lot of.

“He needs a change of scenery and is still a young lad. He needs a home and somewhere where someone can believe in him.

“He’s got real pace, is very good in one-on-one situations and I know he will bring a lot of excitement.”

Hastie said: “This is an exciting move for me. I’m ready to push on and help the team the best way I can.

“I’ve seen a lot of videos and pictures of the fans and I can see they create an unbelievable atmosphere, I can’t wait to get started.”
