Jim Goodwin is hoping that top scorer Sam Dalby will remain at Dundee United for the rest of the season.
Wrexham manager Phil Parkinson has refused to rule out the possibility of recalling the 25-year-old striker from his loan spell.
But while Goodwin admits the Welsh club, currently playing in England’s League One, hold all the cards, he insists he is planning on keeping Dalby at Tannadice.
The forward has ten goals in 20 league games this season and currently leads the scoring charts in the Premiership.
And as he prepares to take on Rangers this weekend, the United manager says he remains in his plans until further notice.
Speaking to the media on Friday, Goodwin said: “We are planning for Sam being here beyond January, obviously Wrexham hold all the cards at the moment because Sam is their player.
“All I can say is that Sam is loving life in Scotland, he is the top goal-scorer in the league and is enjoying his football and that’s what is most important for us.
“Of course we want him to stay and I think the big fella wants to stay as well, so we will hopefully have a conclusion to that over the weekend.
“He is a key player, you want your strikers to be scoring goals and we know if we give the big man opportunities he will put them in the back of the net more often than not.
“It’s been a great loan spell for Sam up to now and we are planning for him to be here beyond the January window to help us continue the success we have had up until now.”
