Jurgen Klopp hands 'really exciting' Celtic midfielder Mika Baur senior Germany call-up

Jurgen Klopp has handed “really exciting” Celtic midfielder Mika Baur his first senior Germany call-up.

The 22-year-old has become a mainstay in the Hoops’ midfield since signing from Bundesliga side Paderborn in the summer.

He has now been rewarded with a senior call-up to the former Liverpool manager’s first 44-man squad.

The newly-appointed Germany boss said: “I consider him really exciting. He’s absolutely up for it.

“We also spoke on the phone about the weather in Glasgow, something I know well from Liverpool.

“With this move, he’s taken on a very challenging step.”

Germany are set to face the Netherlands away, then Greece at home, either side of hosting Serbia in the UEFA Nations League.
