Kelle Roos believes Kilmarnock are “moving in a great direction” as they look to shrug off their Celtic disappointment at Dundee United on Saturday.
Neil McCann’s side let slip a two-goal lead to lose 3-2 to a Hoops winner in the seventh minute of added time in an exhilarating William Hill Premiership clash at Rugby Park on Sunday.
Killie have won two of their last four games and go to Tannadice second-bottom of the table, eight points ahead of Livingston and three and four points behind St Mirren and Dundee respectively – both of whom have a game in hand – but Roos is confident about the rest of the season.
The 33-year-old Dutch goalkeeper, who had a spell at Aberdeen, said: “I feel like the performances have been – maybe not all put together just yet – but we are moving in a great direction.
“That’s how I feel and how everyone feels.
“And we need to keep doing that, but it all comes down to the same thing.
“You need to start with working hard every single day to keep that belief. You can’t take the foot of the gas, even more so put it down at this moment in time.
“I don’t like to look too much at the table right now.
“What we need to do is look at the next game, the next training session and the next meeting.
“I feel like that’s the way you can really focus in, not be distracted with too many things and if we can manage to do that, then we have the best chance to take results every single game.”
The former Nuneaton, Derby and Triestina stopper joined Killie on loan from Notts County in January and he believes the Rugby Park club is a good match for him.
He said: “I knew it was a great opportunity for me.
“Obviously, the club is known for its mentality and hardworking, and I feel like that very much aligns with me.
“So when they came in, I was very excited, I quickly started speaking to everyone and got a great feeling.
“I’ve enjoyed it a lot.
“We were hurting (on Sunday), because I feel like we left something on the table.
“We started off so well and played so well and you just want to take something out of the game and we didn’t.
“But now we need to knuckle down and get points on the board in the next couple of games and just need to keep looking forward.”
“I feel like everybody together pulled in the right direction and if we can keep doing that, we can put some pressure on teams.”
