Results more important than performances for Rangers insists Roofe

Rangers were booed off by section of their support on Sunday despite a 1-0 win over Motherwell.

Kemar Roofe insists that results are more important than performances and he would prefer Rangers win ugly than play well and lose.

The Ibrox side were booed off by a section of their home support after a 1-0 win over Motherwell on Sunday that moved them up to third in the Premiership.

Michael Beale also made it clear that the level of performance was not acceptable as they continue their hunt for trophies.

They host Livingston in the League Cup quarterfinals on Wednesday and while Roofe would like to see a complete performance that would excite the fan, he says the result is the most important part.

Speaking about the Motherwell game he said: “We got the result. It’s a fine line, you can play bad and get a result or play really well and and not. Which one do you want?

“Obviously you want both but if you’re going to pick and choose you want the result.

“We got it, yes we could improve, we’ve worked on the training pitch and in the gym to recover, hopefully we show a better performance and get the result tomorrow as well.

“I’m a football fan as well and when I watch I want to be entertained and not be bored.

“But not every game will go down like that.

“It’s difficult playing three games in eight days there’s going to be fatigue or lower performances but we got the result.”

Rangers have now won three games in a row without conceding a goal following victories over St Johnstone, Real Betis and the Steelmen.

A win against Livingston will see them book a place at Hampden for the semi-final with the first bit of silverware of the season well within their sights, particularly with holders Celtic, who beat them both cup competitions last campaign, knocked out by Kilmarnock.
