Kevin Nisbet's move to Millwall is off as player wants to stay at Hibs

The striker has decided against making a move after travelling south.

Kevin Nisbet will not be leaving Hibs for Millwall after the in-form striker decided against making a switch to the English Championship.

Millwall had followed up an initial interest in Nisbet with an improved offer that would have seen Hibs receive over £2m for the Scotland international, prompting the Easter Road club to approve a move.

But despite a fee being agreed, and Nisbet flying to London to progress the deal, the player has rejected the move.

The striker, who has scored seven goals in seven games since returning from injury, has returned to Scotland and could be in the Hibs squad to face Aberdeen on Saturday.

A statement from Nisbet’s representatives Quanic Sports read: “Kevin has thought long and hard about moving right now and was unsure about the move at this time.

“Kevin’s focus remains on Hibs at the moment.”

Nisbet’s U-turn comes at a time when Ryan Porteous appears close to signing for Watford as Hibs cash in on a player coming to the end of his contract.

Speaking at his lunchtime media conference, when it appeared both players were leaving, manager Lee Johnson had lamented their loss.

He said: “It is a big loss (if they go). Two quality players in very different circumstances in each transfer.

“Sometimes it is difficult to stand in a guy’s way and it’s well-documented our shortcomings in Porteous’ contract situation (his deal ends this summer) but at the same time Kevin could command a very strong fee that we could reinvest.”
