Kilmarnock defender Stuart Findlay will serve a one-match ban after the club failed with an appeal against his red card against Ross County.
The defender was sent off by referee Colin Steven after eight minutes at Rugby Park on Saturday. He was judged to have fouled Ross Stewart and deny County an obvious goalscoring opportunity.
Ten-man Killie went on to win the game 3-1 but, after reviewing the incident , manager Alex Dyer felt Findlay had won the ball and decided to submit an appeal against the decision and subsequent ban to the Scottish FA.
“He definitely touched the ball twice,” Dyer said. “I’ve looked back at it two or three times and there is contact on the ball. I will appeal it and hope for the best.”
The incident was considered by an independent panel on Wednesday and Steven’;s decision was upheld.
Findlay will now sit out the Premiership match at Hamilton on December 5.
