Kyogo ready to take on Aberdeen as Celtic top scorer passed fit for clash

Celtic star Kyogo Furuhashi is “good to go” and will be involved against Aberdeen on Saturday after recovering from a knock picked up last week.

The Japanese forward, who is the Premiership’s top scorer with 19 league goals and 22 in all competitions, returned to training midweek and will be in Ange Postecoglou’s plans.

However the manager confirmed that David Turnbull, who started ahead of Reo Hatate in the 5-1 win over St Mirren, will miss out.

Speaking on Friday, Postecoglou said: “Kyogo is fine, he trained today and had a session yesterday, so he is good to go.

“Turnbull took a bit of a knock last week so he will miss the game and everyone else is ok.”

Aberdeen will arrive in Glasgow with former Celtic player Barry Robson at the helm on an interim basis as their search for a new manager continues.

And Postecoglou says it will be a challenge for the Premiership leaders, who play Rangers in next week’s League Cup final.

He said: “It’s always a challenge when you’re meeting a team with a new manager, Barry has had a couple of games now and they had a weekend without a game so he has time to work with the squad and get his message across.

“We know that at their best they are a very good side with good individual players that can hurt you, especially in an attacking sense and we’ve got to be ready for it.

“But at the same time, our form has been pretty good for a quite a while now and, particularly with being at home, if we start well and play at our tempo we know we will be hard to stop.”
