SNS GroupNeil Lennon will be in charge of Celtic for their Europa League match against Milan on Thursday as he continued to receive the backing of the club’s majority shareholder Dermot Desmond.
Talks between the under-fire manager and Celtic powerbrokers took place on Zoom on Monday and continued late into the night.
The discussions were described to STV as “positive” and result in Lennon being in the dugout for the team’s European game on Thursday.
Celtic’s 2-0 home defeat to Ross County on Sunday saw them knocked out of the League Cup and continue a run of form that has seen the team win only two of their last ten games.
That sparked angry protests with fans demonstrating outside Celtic Park and calling for Lennon’s removal amidst violent scenes.
Those scenes angered Celtic supremo Desmond and the club has launched its own investigation in addition to the police looking into the incidents that left three officers with minor injuries.
Lennon took charge of training on Monday as he prepares his side for the match in Italy.
Back to back defeats against Sparta Prague ended the team’s hopes of progressing in the Europa League but the manager is hoping that a positive result in Italy can be a turning point.
