Livingston manager David Martindale has been successful in contesting a touchline ban after being showing a red card during his side’s match against Dundee United in October.

Martindale was sent from the touchline after clashing with fourth official Lloyd Wilson after his player Ben Williamson was sent off for a challenge on Declan Glass during the match.

The Livingston boss was subsequently charge with misconduct by the Scottish FA and offered a one-match touchline ban.

Martindale was adamant that the accusation he had used offensive language and sworn at Wilson was untrue and rejected the fixed one-match suspension, insisting on having the matter heard by an independent disciplinary panel.

After the initial hearing was postponed twice, a panel convened on Wednesday and downgraded the sanction to an official warning for dissent.

Livingston said on their Twitter feed: “Livingston FC is pleased to confirm that manager David Martindale has won his appeal against the fixed, one match suspension offered by the SFA for his red card against Dundee United in October, with the sanction downgraded to a formal warning instead.”
