Livingston reject £1m offer for striker Lyndon Dykes

Livingston have rejected a seven figure bid for striker Lyndon Dykes from English Championship side Barnsley.

The West Lothian outfit received an offer of £1m for the 24-year-old from the Yorkshire club on Friday.

Livingston are holding out for around £2m for the forward, who has been tipped to break into international football with either Scotland or his native Australia.

Dykes is a target for Rangers in this transfer window, with manager Steven Gerrard and director of football Ross Wilson mulling over a move to sign the 6ft 2in target man.

Speaking on Thursday, Livingston manager Gary Holt told STV that dealing with speculation would help Dykes grow as a player.

He said: “You have to put it to the back of your mind and do what gets you noticed.

“We know where we want to be and he knows where we are coming from so he is a Livi player, he loves for the club and we will see how long that continues.”

Dykes only joined Livingston under freedom of contract a year ago from Queen of the South, where he formed a goal-laden partnership with Stephen Dobbie.

In his first season at the Tony Macaroni Arena Dykes netted 12 goals in 33 appearances.
