Scotland striker Lyndon Dykes admitted the team could have scored more goals against Luxembourg but says the Euro 2020 preparations have him “raring to go”.

Dykes set up Che Adams for the only goal of the game as Scotland won 1-0 in the Josy Barthel Stadium but couldn’t capitalise on the hosts being reduced to ten men, or a number of opportunities that came from the flanks.

Scotland boss Steve Clarke had said that Dykes had been disappointed not to have scored a hat-trick, never mind come off without a goal, but the striker preferred to focus on the chances created and his burgeoning partnership with Adams in attack.

“We’re disappointed that we didn’t score a few more but at the end of the day we won the game and it’s been a positive camp,” Dykes said. “So we go into the Euros full of confidence and we’ve just got to keep playing well.

“You know there’s something wrong if you’re not getting opportunities but on another day it could have been 4-0 or 5-0.

“Me and Che did really well today linking up again. Obviously I got the assist and he finished the goal. We did well linking up for the red card as well and the game changed a bit from there.

“We’re all ready for that next game at the Euros. That’s where, when the chances come, we have to be make sure we take them and are clinical, and I’m sure we will.”

Scotland’s players will now return home and leave the squad for a few days rest before returning for the build-up to their Euros opener against Czech Republic on June 14. Dykes says the team are eagerly anticipating the big day at Hampden and the challenges to come.

“Everyone’s desperate to get going,” he said. “We get to go home and see our families for a few days, which is good, but you don’t generally get much time to train together in international breaks and with this camp it’s built us even stronger together.

“Everyone is raring to go for the next one and when it comes we’re going to be buzzing. We’ll be going out to keep that momentum going and we’re going to be strong.”
