A man who died after a car struck a parked vehicle in Inverclyde has been named.

Scott McFadden was a passenger in a Volkswagen Golf when it collided with an unoccupied Peugeot in the Clune Brae area of Port Glasgow on Monday.

Emergency services attended at around 9.55pm and the 38-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 50-year-old woman, who was arrested and released pending further enquiries, was taken to hospital for treatment.

Police are now appealing for information in a bid to establish the full circumstances.

Sergeant Robert Mackie, of the Road Policing Unit in Dumbarton, said: “Our thoughts are with Scott McFadden’s family and friends at this difficult time.

“Our enquiries into the full circumstances of this collision are ongoing.

“I would urge anyone who may have information who has not yet spoken to police to contact 101, quoting reference number 3838 of 16 December.”
