Hibs striker Marc McNulty has been called to account by the Scottish FA for an alleged stamp on Sean Clare during the match against Hearts on Tuesday.
The players came together in an incident during Hearts’ 3-1 win that left Clare on the ground and McNulty then appeared to stand on the midfielder’s back, leaving him writhing in pain.
Referee Kevin Clancy took no action at the time but the Scottish FA compliance officer has now issued a notice of complaint, with McNulty facing a ban for violent conduct.
The Hibs player has been charged with breaking rule 200, which read: Where any one of the sending off offences of (A1) serious foul play, (A2) violent conduct, and (A3) spitting at an opponent or any other person is committed by a player at a match, but that sending off offence was not seen by any of the match officials at the time that it was committed, the mandatory suspension for that sending off offence as provided for in Annex C of the Judicial Panel Protocol shall be applied to the player.”
A disciplinary hearing will be held on Monday, March 9 and mcNulty will be banned if an independent panel rules that he deliberately stamped on his opponent.
