Aberdeen striker Sam Cosgrove is travelling to undergo a medical with Birmingham City after the club accepted a £2m offer for the player.
Cosgrove could complete his move to the Championship side within 24 hours after Birmingham made their bid on Thursday night and discussions continued into the next day.
The move would see Aberdeen boss Derek McInnes lose one of his most high-profile players days before the transfer deadline.
Speaking on Friday morning, he had said that a move was likely to happen if the financial package was acceptable.
The manager said. “There could be an opportunity for Sam to move, whether that is done today or over the weekend, discussions are ongoing.
“I am always reluctant to say too much until everything is concluded.
“It is still a good bit away from being concluded but there is discussions between both clubs.”
“If the money is right it will happen. The indications are there could be a deal to be done but like I said, discussions moved on quite quickly last night and we will see where we pick up on that today.”
Cosgrove moved to Aberdeen from Carlisle United in 2018. He has scored 47 goals in 103 games since arriving at the club.
