Michael Beale is in Glasgow to finalise his move to Rangers after the Ibrox club agreed compensation with QPR over their manager.
Final details of his agreement to take charge at Ibrox are set to be concluded and he will become successor to Giovanni van Bronckhorst.
Rangers players return to training on Monday following time off at the start of the World Cup break and they are expected to meet their manager within the next 24 hours.
Beale quickly emerged as the front-runner for the job after the Rangers board took the decision to sack Giovanni van Bronckhorst last week.
The Englishman worked as an assistant to Steven Gerrard during his time as manager and was seen as an instrumental part of the club’s Premiership title win and progress as a squad.
Beale left the club along with the rest of Gerrard’s coaching staff when he joined Aston Villa last year but left the Midlands club to pursue his own managerial ambitions six months later, taking the job at QPR.
He took the London side to the top of the Championship after a strong start to the season, but recent results saw the team slip to seventh in the league table.
After finalising his move to Ibrox, he’ll take on the task of reversing Rangers’ recent form after a disastrous Champions League group stage and domestic results that see the team trail Celtic by nine points in the title race.
