Motherwell have rejected a bid from Udinese for teenager Lennon Miller.
STV Sport understands that the Serie A side had an offer of around £2.5m for the Scotland under-21 star thrown out.
The bid doesn’t meet the Fir Park club’s valuation of the 18-year-old.
Miller was brought through the youth system at Motherwell and has made 63 appearances for the first team since his debut at the age of 16 in 2022.
The highly-rated midfielder has played 26 games this season, including captaining the side in the absence of Paul McGinn and Stephen O’Donnell.
He fractured his ankle in a game against Rangers last month and has been ruled out until the end of February as a result.
Udinese are currently tenth in the Serie A table with 26 points from 21 games.
Several Scottish players have made an impact in Italy’s top-flight in recent seasons, including the likes of Lewis Ferguson at Bologna, Scott McTominay and Billy Gilmour at Napoli and Che Adams at Torino.
Motherwell chief executive Brian Caldwell has stressed they are in no rush to sell Miller after rejecting not one but two offers.
Caldwell said in a club video: “To be bluntly truthful about this, we have had a couple of offers from a club who are miles away from our valuation.
“We are not desperate to sell the player. We have always said that it’s got to be right for Lennon and the football club.
“Lennon Miller is statistically, I believe, in the top seven players in the world for his age for midfield players. He is an exceptional talent and if and when Lennon does move it will be the right price for us and also right for Lennon at the same time.”
Caldwell has been busier on the other side of the transfer front as Motherwell look to strengthen amid an ongoing spate of injuries.
Manager Stuart Kettlewell was without nine players for Saturday’s Scottish Cup defeat by St Johnstone.
“There’s no doubt about that, we need to try and help where we possibly can,” Caldwell said.
“Stuart was always going to try and bring numbers in to boost the squad and the injury situation has made it more imperative that we bring some new recruits in and help that squad.”
