Motherwell have signed Celtic youngster Adam Montgomery on loan for the remainder of the season.
The 21-year-old has returned to Scotland following a six-month spell at English League One side Fleetwood Town.
He was signed for Fleetwood by former Celtic captain Scott Brown in the summer but has only managed three first team appearances.
He has now joined Stuart Kettewell’s side for the second half of the 2023/24 campaign.
Montgomery played ten games in Celtic’s title winning season of 2021/22 and was an unused sub in their League Cup final win over Hibs in December 2021.
He spent the next season on loan at St Johnstone where he made 27 appearances in the top-flight and is contracted to the Hoops until 2025.
Motherwell confirmed the signing on Friday.
Kettlewell said: “With the low numbers we currently have available, it’s important we bring the right players to the club who we think can make an impact.
“Adam is still a very young footballer who is in the early part of his career, however, to have amassed 67 first-team games at his age, shows he already has experience and good knowledge of the game.
“I’m delighted we have been able to bring him to the club and look forward to working with him.”
Montgomery will wear the number 22 kit for the remainder of the season.
He said: “I’m chuffed to be here.
“I’m excited to get going and show the fans what I can do. It’s been really good meeting all the boys so far and feel it’s a great environment to be playing football.”
