Motherwell have completed the signing of teenage winger Stuart McKinstry from Leeds United on loan.
The move marks a return to Fir Park for the attacking player, who came through Motherwell’s academy before signing for Leeds three years ago.
New Motherwell boss Steven Hammell coached McKinstry then and hopes to get the best out of the player as he looks to get regular first team football after struggling for game time at Leeds.
“I’ve worked with Stuart before and know exactly what he is capable of,” Hammell told the Motherwell website.
“He has progressed in his time down south and having the experience of being in and around the first team has been beneficial for him.
“He is an excellent addition to the squad and I look forward to seeing what he produces this season.”
McKinstry has been a regular for Leeds’ Under-23 team. He has played for the first team once, in the League Cup, and several times for the Under-21s in the EFL Trophy.
