Mural of Scott McTominay's overhead kick near Hampden completed

A mural of Scott McTominay’s iconic overhead kick, which helped send Scotland to the World Cup, has been completed near Hampden Park.

The acrobatic effort set the tone for a historic night in November last year as Steve Clarke’s side cemented their spot at the biggest tournament in football for the first time in 28 years.

The artwork, painted in partnership with Adidas and the SFA, appeared on the side of a building on Somerville Drive in Glasgow, not far from where the unforgettable moment took place.

The goal has already been commemorated on canvas through a photograph by Ross MacDonald, which was put on display at the Portrait Gallery on Queen Street in Edinburgh last month.

Lee Bofkin, Global Street Art CEO and co-founder said: “We’re honoured to have been asked to paint this mural celebrating Scott McTominay’s incredible overhead kick, which helped take Scotland to the FIFA World Cup this year.

“We hope the fans enjoy seeing this moment immortalised in paint, 36ft high in the city of Glasgow.”

Scotland will take on Haiti and Morocco in Boston and Brazil in Miami in the group stages of the 2026 World Cup, which kicks off this June.

It’s the first time the men’s team have reached that level since 1998, when the tournament was held in France.

Thousands of Tartan Army members are expected to make the trip across the Atlantic for what promises to be a summer to remember for those who travel to back the team and those watching from home.
