SNS GroupNeil McCann has urged Kilmarnock to show unity as they bid to secure a trip to Hampden.
The Rugby Park side ended a run of four straight league defeats on Saturday with a 0-0 draw against Aberdeen at Pittodrie after conceding 14 goals in losses to St Johnstone, Celtic, Dundee United and St Mirren.
The Ayrshire side will face the same opponents in their Premier Sports Cup quarter-final on Saturday and the under-fire boss believes booking a semi-final spot would bring some solidity to the club.
“We had to try and entertain our fans,” he said. “We’ve been working hard at that and the results maybe haven’t been up to standard in what we expect and what we want. The fans have been rightly disappointed.
“Hopefully, with the result on Saturday – and it’s only a point, but there’s a lot to take from the performance – that they come along on Saturday night and really get behind the team.
“It’s always the hardest to support a team when times are not great. That’s when the real supporters really show their colours.
“We’ve had wonderful support since we’ve come into the club. I just feel that the boys have got so much to offer this season.
“To get to the semi-final would be magic for our fans, magic for the board, but more importantly, for me right now, it is magic for the boys downstairs in the dressing room, because they’re working so hard daily to try and get themselves into a groove where they’re gaining points that we know we’re capable of.
“It’s so important we give fans a product they can be proud of. Saturday night gives us a wee chance just to maybe get them behind the team a wee bit more with some more confidence.”
