Incoming Aberdeen manager Jimmy Thelin has learned the identity of his first four opponents in Scotland following the League Cup group-stage draw on Wednesday.
The Swede, who officially takes the reins at Pittodrie next month, will lead his new side into Group A, where they will face lower-league quartet Airdrie, Queen of the South, Dumbarton and East Kilbride.
Hibernian’s new manager, still to be appointed, will kick off their reign with matches against Queen’s Park, Kelty Hearts, Peterhead and Elgin City in Group C.
Group B is made up of four of last season’s league title winners, with Dundee United, Falkirk, Stenhousemuir and Buckie Thistle joined by Ayr.
In Group F, St Johnstone boss Craig Levein and assistant Andy Kirk will go up against former club Brechin.
Ross County and Raith Rovers will face a rematch of their recent Premiership play-off final showdown as they are both in Group H, along with Hamilton, Stirling Albion and Stranraer.
The fixture list is still to be devised but ties will start on the weekend of July 13-14 and be staged over two midweeks and three weekends.
The eight group winners plus the three runners-up with the best results will join European qualifiers Celtic, Rangers, Hearts, Kilmarnock and St Mirren in the second round.
