The Scottish Women’s Football season 2020 has been declared null and void and a new campaign will begin this year on a winter schedule.
Women’s football at SWPL 1 and 2 level, plus the Championship leagues, will aim to resume in a new 2020/21 season on Sunday, October 18.
A condensed League Cup format will take place next May and June but there will be no Scottish Cup for the season ahead.
The traditional March to November season was just one game old when the coronavirus crisis forced a halt to fixtures.
Vivienne MacLaren, the Scottish Women’s Football chairperson, said: “It was imperative that we continued to maintain the momentum generated prior to lockdown and we believe the new 2020/21 schedule will allow us to do that.
“We’d like to thank all our key stakeholders for their commitment and involvement in our consultation discussions over the past four months which has led us to a positive outcome for the girls’ and women’s game.”
The domestic fixture list will be issued on August 21.
Glasgow City, who have won SWPL1 13 years in a row, are due to take part in the quarter finals of the Champions League in San Sebastian in Spain in August, where they will face Germany’s Frauen-Bundersliga winners Wolfsburg.
