The next Scottish league season will kick off in the first weekend of August and again contain no winter break.
There were no surprises as the Scottish Professional Football League outlined plans for the 2025-26 campaign, which will start on August 1-3. The Premiership season will end on May 16-17.
The Premier Sports Cup group stage begins on July 12-13 with the final scheduled for December 14. The quarter-finals will again be played on a weekend because of a lack of midweek slots.
The annual winter break was scrapped this season due to the expansion of the Champions League and Europa League formats.
And with the World Cup being held at the end of the next campaign there was no scope to expand the season any further.
SPFL chief operating officer Calum Beattie said: “We will again have five clubs competing in UEFA club competitions in season 2025/26 and, of course, we are all hoping that next season ends with Scotland’s participation at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.”
A host of managers, including Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers, have called for the January break to be reinstated amid a “challenging” schedule.
