SNS GroupHibernian head coach Nick Montgomery has stressed he will only sign players in January who can make an immediate impact.
Hibs were depleted during Tuesday’s 2-2 home draw with Motherwell because of injuries and international commitments.
Montgomery fielded two 16-year-olds – Rory Whittaker and Josh Landers – and 17-year-old Rudi Molotnikov against the Steelmen and does not want to block their progress.
Montgomery told Hibs TV: “I am really confident going into this break that we can get a couple of players back fit and we can try and bring fresh faces in, if budget allows.
“A couple of boys are moving out on loan as well so we are trying to free up some budget to bring players in.
“It’s not easy, we are working hard with (director of football) Brian (McDermott) and the scouts.
“But what we can’t do is bring players in who are not going to make an immediate impact, because they are just going to block young boys who are coming through the club.
“That’s something I have to be conscious about, I have to find a balance between results and doing that.
“We had three or four academy players on the pitch when we got back in the game, which was great experience for them.”
