Kevin Nisbet: I know I'll bounce back to goal-scoring form

Scotland striker Kevin Nisbet has said his recent goal drought shouldn’t be an issue if he is picked to face Moldova on Friday.

With Lyndon Dykes suspended and Ryan Fraser having withdrawn from the squad, there’s an opportunity for Nisbet or squad newcomer Jacob Brown to play alongside Che Adams in a game that’s crucial to Scotland’s chances of making the World Cup play-offs.

Nisbet has international experience, with eight Scotland caps and one goal to his name, but he’s only found the net once for Hibs in his last eight games.

He’s been unable to rectify that with Hibs having their last two games postponed and he admits it did cross his mind that he may not make the squad at all.

“Of course I was [concerned] but I didn’t let that affect me as much,” he said. “I am delighted to be here and to be given another chance to prove myself.

But I think the gaffer knows it’s just a wee bit of bad form and that I am a good player.

“I have always done well since I have been away with Scotland so I think he trusts me in that sense.”

Nisbet admits he’s seen some flak on social media as his goals have dried up but he maintains he will regain his form and that finding the net once would set things rolling again.

“Obviously, we have had a bad run of results in the league campaign but it will probably take me a goal and I will be back to normal form,” he said.

“I wouldn’t say it’s about picking myself up. It’s just one of things, people go through bad spells, especially strikers. I think they get criticised more for it because they aren’t scoring and that’s what their job is.

“I am not worried at all about my form because I will always back myself to score goals. I know I will bounce back and score goals and come good again.

“I have been getting a lot of stick. I don’t really get annoyed about stuff I see on social media. I don’t really care about it. I just focus on myself and I am not worried in the slightest.”
