The Glasgow rivals are set to clash in the first instalment of a crucial derby double‑header

Old Firm derby: What you need to know as Rangers and Celtic clash at IbroxSNS Group

The title race is on a knife-edge today as Rangers and Celtic collide in the Old Firm derby.

Hearts moved seven points clear at the top of the William Hill Scottish Premiership with a 1-0 home victory over Aberdeen on Saturday.

It piles on the pressure ahead of kick-off for the Glasgow sides vying to keep pace and will decide who is best place to chase down the Premiership leaders.

With ten games left, this derby is pivotal in a three‑way title fight.

First of two showdowns

Today’s league meeting is the first leg of a derby double‑header.

The sides meet again next weekend at Ibrox in the Scottish Cup quarter‑final.

Stuttering form last time out

Rangers needed a late goal to salvage a 2–2 draw at bottom‑placed Livingston.

Celtic fell to a home defeat against Hibs, their first domestic loss since Martin O’Neill’s return.

That defeat came between their two Europa League ties with Stuttgart – Thursday’s 1-0 away win wasn’t enough to overturn a heavy first‑leg loss.

Rangers’ momentum

Despite last week’s draw, Rangers remain unbeaten domestically since late last year.

They recently halted Hearts’ surge with a 4-2 victory at Ibrox.

January’s derby at Parkhead ended 3-1 to Rangers, inspired by Youssef Chermiti’s double.

Celtic’s mixed bag

Celtic knocked Rangers out of the Premier Sports Cup last year with a 3-1 win.

A 0-0 draw at Ibrox in August remains the season’s only uneventful derby.

Today’s match is a major test for O’Neill as he tries to steady the ship after European disappointment and domestic setback.

Kick‑off

12pm at Ibrox, with the title race potentially reshaped by the time the whistle blows.
