Porteous gets Scotland call as Clarke names squad

Steve Clarke has called up Hibernian defender Ryan Porteous for Scotland’s play-off against Israel and Nations League matches against Slovakia and Czech Republic.

Porteous has played for Scotland at Under 19, 20 and 21 level and was in the squad for last year’s double-header against Cypruis and Kazakhstan but he had never made a full international appearance for the senior team.

Clarke has also brought attacker Ryan Fraser back into the squad for the games at Hampden, the first of which could put the national team 90 minutes away from reaching the Euro 2020 finals.

The trio of goalkeepers remains unchanged with David Marshall and Jon McLaughlin backed up by Robby McCrorie.

Porteous is joined by fellow defenders Liam Cooper, Declan Gallagher, Scott McKenna, Stephen O’Donnell, Liam Palmer, Kieran Tierney, Greg Taylor and Andy Robertson.

Fraser, Stuart Armstrong, Ryan Christie, John Fleck, Ryan Jack, John McGinn, Callum McGregor, Kenny McLean and Scott McTominay are the midfielders.

Oliver Burke, Lyndon Dykes, Oli McBurnie, Callum Paterson and Lawrence Shankland are the forward options.
