Postecoglou expects tough challenge when Celtic face Dundee United

Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou is anticipating another tough game when his side face Dundee United on Sunday, having draw with Tam Courts’ side earlier in the season.

The Glasgow side kept pace with Premiership leaders Rangers in midweek with a 1-0 win over Hearts and are looking to extend their run of domestic form when they travel to Tannadice.

When the sides met in September, Liel Abada gave Celtic an early lead at Celtic Park, only for Ian Harkes to equalise two minutes later, and United kept out the hosts to take a point.

Postecoglou expects another stiff challenge form the Tangerines this time around.

“It’s a good challenge,” he said. “They frustrated us here and got a draw against us and away from home is always a good challenge.

“We’re expecting a tough game. But our away form has been really strong and we just need to continue.

“I’ve been saying to the players that we just need to focus on our football and making sure that every week we present ourselves in the right manner and go about it in the right way. We can’t get too caught up with what’s happening around us and we’ve done that pretty well in recent times and need to keep doing it.”

Celtic were forced to substitute Anthony Ralston, Stephen Welsh and jota due to injury during the game against Hearts and will wait to learn the assessment of all three but the team will be boosted by the return of Cameron Carter-Vickers.

“We picked up some injuries, I don’t know the extent,” Postecoglou said. “Tony is probably the one that’s the most concerning because for him to come off I assume it has to be something significant.”
