Postecoglou reveals Jullien is closing in on Celtic return

Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou has said he is hopeful defender Christopher Jullien can now return to full training and become available for selection.

The French centre-back became a key player for the club after joining from Toulouse in 2019 but suffered a serious knee injury last December and hasn’t played since.

Postecoglou hasn’t been able to call upon the defender since arriving at the club but is optimistic it won’t be long before he can welcome him into the side.

“He’s had a couple of little setbacks but we are hoping now that he’s at a point where he’s ready to train fully with the team and make himself available,” the Celtic boss said. “He’ll be a great addition.

“He’s good player, he’s very commanding, he’s very confident in himself. So we will get him involved and I’m sure he can add to us.”

Celtic will also be bolstered by the return of Jota, James Forrest and Giorgos Giakoumakis in the weeks to come.

Postecoglou has also made it clear he will be active in the transfer market when the window opens in January, and is expected to return to the J-League for new recruits.

Celtic’s next match is against Hibernian on January 17 when the Premiership resumes after the winter break.
