Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos has been banned for three games after the Ibrox club accepted a charge of violent conduct against the player.
Morelos scored the only goal of the game against Hibs last week but was involved in an incident earlier in the match where the Colombian striker appeared to stamp on Hibs defender Ryan Porteous after they both challenged for the ball.
Match referee Kevin Clancy didn’t show any card at the time but the Scottish FA’s disciplinary department issued a notice of complaint after three former top level referees reviewed the incident and were unanimous that a red card incident had been missed.
Rangers had until 3pm on Monday to decide if they would accept the charge and punishment or go to a disciplinary tribunal to argue the player’s innocence.
They decided to accept the charge and Morelos will now be sidelined for three games. He serves a two-match ban for violent conduct against Hibs but also has an additional game’s suspension having been sent off already this season.
Steven Gerrard will now be without his striker for games against St Johnstone, Hamilton and Kilmarnock.
