Rangers have agreed a fee with Norwich City for the transfer of Todd Cantwell.

The 24-year-old has fallen out of favour at Carrow Road but has caught the eye of the Ibrox club and discussions over a transfer fee have now been settled.

Cantwell is now set to be Rangers manager Michael Beale’s first signing since he joined the club in November.

The playmaker is a product of Norwich City’s youth system and after a spell at Fortuna Sittard on loan he returned to establish himself with the Canaries.

A key player with Daniel Farke’s side in the Premiership, he lost his starting position a was loaned to Bournemouth in January last year.

A former England Under-21 international, he is aiming to play regular first team football to get his career back on track.

Rangers manager Beale is looking to add more signings to his squad as he looks to narrow the gap on Celtic in the Premiership and aims for success in the domestic cups.

The Ibrox club has been linked with several players since the January transfer window opened and when Cantwell was mentioned as a possible target earlier this month, Beale said he was a fan of the midfielder.

“Todd was an excellent player when he was young and playing against my Liverpool Under-23s,” he said.

“I thought he would go on and have a fantastic career. He had that at the start and he is maybe just looking for a move to re-ignite it but I think he is a fantastic player at a good age.
