Rangers have completed the signing of full-back Tuur Rommens from Westerlo, with the defender signing a three-and-a-half year deal at Ibrox.
The signing adds competition at left-back, where head coach Danny Rohl had identified a lack of cover.
Rommens becomes the club’s second signing of the January window, following midfielder Tochi Chukwuani’s arrival from Sturm Graz and strengthen’s Rohl’s squad as he aims to gain the upper hand in the title race.
“I’m very happy to be here,” the Belgian told the club’s website. “It’s a dream to play for a club like this, and I only have positive feelings.
“Everyone knows Rangers, and when a club like this is interested in you, then you want to be part of this club. The most important thing is that they believe in me, and that’s why I have come here.
“It’s a big club with a lot of fans, and they always play in Europe. It was very easy for me to make this choice.”
Rohl added: “I am delighted to welcome Tuur to the club.
“He is a young and hungry player who adds real quality and physicality to the group and increases competition in a key area of the pitch.
“We believe he will be a fantastic addition to the side and an important asset in the years ahead.”
Rommens began his career at Genk but moved to Westerlo in 2023. The 22-year-old, who has played for Belgium at the youth level up to Under-21, has played 15 league matches this season so far.
STV understands that while Rommens is fit to play, Rangers fans may have to wait to see him in action in light blue.
A previous knock means that the coaching staff are likely to manage him carefully and he may not be fully ready for three or four weeks. While he could be thrown straight into the action, Jayden Meghoma’s form means Rohl is happy to wait.
The Ibrox side are keen to add more new faces this month, with a loan deal now agreed with Wolfsburg for Andreas Skov Olsen.
Rangers have also been monitoring Sunderland duo Dan Neil and Romaine Mundle.
