Rangers captain James Tavernier shared his delight at lifting the Viaplay Cup and completing a personal set of trophy triumphs.
Tavernier scored the only goal of the game as Rangers defeated Aberdeen in Sunday’s final at Hampden and raised the trophy in front of a jubilant support.
The Ibrox skipper won the Premiership in 2021, and the Scottish Cup a year later, and now has a winners’ medal from each of the major domestic competitions. Rangers hadn’t won the League Cup since 2011.
“It’s long overdue,” Tavernier said.
“I’m delighted to get my hands on the first silverware of the season. It should give us real momentum to build on now.
“We have an important game on Wednesday so we’ll enjoy today and then look towards Wednesday and getting three points.”
The victory comes days after a memorable Europa League victory over Real Betis in Seville, and continues an unbeaten run to 14 games under new manager Philippe Clement.
Tavernier puts the turnaround in form down to Clement’s arrival but also a sense of collective responsibility and motivation from the players.
“I think it’s the squad and the manager has galvanised us,” he said. “We’re all demanding so much off each other and it’s the things behind the scenes that people don’t see. We’re really pushing each other.
“It’s not just the starting eleven who are making the impact, it’s everyone.
“It’s about playing a part, playing a part together and going in the right direction.”
Having won the first trophy of the season, Rangers now look forward to the knockout rounds of the Europa League, the title race and the Scottish Cup. After tasting success on Sunday, Tavernier says the players are focused on more.
“We’ve always got determination, no matter what,” he said.
“We play for a club that’s rich in trophy history.
“We all want to have success together and bring success to the club and fans.
“That’s our aim and we want to make those dreams come true this season.”
