Rangers are closing in on a deal to sign Manchester United’s Amad Diallo on loan and hope to conclude a short-term move for the winger shortly.
The Ibrox side have been in talks with the English Premier League giants about taking the 19-year-old Ivory Coast international until the end of the season.
Rangers manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst had said that the club could make a move in the transfer market to sign an attacker after news that Ianis Hagi was ruled out until the end of the season.
Diallo joined United in January last year from Atalanta, for a fee reported to be upwards of £20m.
The winger, who has three caps for his country but was not in Ivory Coast’s Africa Cup of Nations squad, has struggled for game time at Old Trafford and could move to continue his development.
Diallo has only made one appearance for United this season, playing 68 minutes against Young Boys in the Champions League. It has been reported that United’s interim boss Ralf Rangnick has told the player he is not in his plans for the rest of the season and that they would look to arrange a loan deal.
Rangers manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst has only made one signing so far this transfer window, bringing in James Sands from New York City FC.
The team is aiming to defend their Premiership title as well as challenge for the Scottish Cup and has made it through to the knockout stages of the Europa League. Rangers play Borussia Dortmund in the play-off round of the UEFA competition.
