Rangers have have confirmed the deadline day signing of Colombian winger Oscar Cortes from RC Lens.

The 20-year-old has joined on loan for the remainder of the season as the Ibrox side look to push for the Premiership title and a potential domestic treble as well as continue their run in Europe.

He joins Fabio Silva and Mohamed Diomande as Philippe Clement’s three signings in the January window.

The move was confirmed just hours before the window slams shut at 11.30pm on Thursday.

Rangers have an option to buy the player at the end of the season when the loan term ends.

Cortes has has made four appearances for the Ligue 1 side this season and scored his only goal of the campaign against Stade Reims at the end of last year.

He has one cap for Colombia after making his international debut last summer when he came off the bench for the last four minutes in a win over Iraq.

Speaking after the move was confirmed on Thursday, Cortes said: “I am very honoured and privileged to be signing for Rangers.

“I have heard a lot about the history and tradition of Rangers, and I have had positive conversations with the manager who said I can help the team reach their goals this season.

“I am really excited to join up with my teammates and hopefully exciting the fans with my style of play.”

Manager Clement said: “I am really delighted to add Oscar to our squad.

“Our discussions have been really positive, and I believe he will be a big asset to the squad as we fight across three fronts for the remainder of this season.

“Oscar is really enthusiastic about our aims and ambitions as a team, and his skillset will provide welcome competition to our forward line.”

Rangers currently trail Celtic by five points at the top of the Premiership but also have a game in hand over their city-rivals.

They won the first piece of silverware of the season in the League Cup at the end of last year and remain in both the Scottish Cup and Europa League.
