Rangers have cut the gap at the top of the Scottish Premiership to six points with a routine victory over Dundee United at Ibrox.
Malik Tillman scored each side of half-time to give the home side an unassailable lead against the league’s bottom club.
The 2-0 win means Michael Beale’s men reduce Celtic’s nine-point lead to six with the Hoops not in action until Sunday when they travel to Ross County.
The top two sides come face to face in the fourth Old Firm game of the season next weekend at Parkhead.
Meanwhile Dundee United remain rooted to the bottom of the Premiership, four points behind Ross County who also have a game in hand.
Veteran goalkeeper Allan McGregor made his 500th appearance for the Ibrox club and kept a clean sheet as they recorded their tenth consecutive league win.
Club legend John Greig presented the 41-year-old former Scotland international, who will have a testimonial against Newcastle United, with a trophy before the game to mark the feat.
Rangers are yet to taste defeat in the Premiership since Beale’s arrival just before the turn of the year with the 2-2 draw with Celtic in January the only points dropped.
