Rangers manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst has revealed that midfielder Ianis Hagi won’t be available for the remainder of the season after undergoing knee surgery.
The 23-year-old was forced off with a knee injury in the Ibrox side’s Scottish Cup fourth round win over Stirling Albion on Friday.
Giovanni van Bronckhorst has revealed that an operation was required, and the Romanian will not play again this term as he recovers.
Van Bronckhorst said: “Ianis needed an operation.
“He went for this yesterday and we will sadly be missing Ianis for the season.
“Missing Ianis is a big blow. We will look to add a player if they are right but we would only add someone who will improve the talented group.
“I spoke to Ianis yesterday and he is positive and focused on his recovery.”
The Ibrox boss had more welcoming news for Rangers fans as he confirmed the return of midfielder Joe Aribo following his involvement at the African Cup of Nations with Nigeria.
The 25-year-old is now clear to return to Glasgow following a last 16 defeat to Tunisia on Sunday night.
He said: “Joe Aribo is travelling back today and will be back in Glasgow tonight.
“We will assess him on his return, he will be back for sure come the weekend.”
